Hotel König von Ungarn

The Hotel König von Ungarn is one of the oldest hotels in Vienna, with its first mention dating back to 1764, although its history can be traced even further to the Gothic period. The building’s structure is largely preserved and is under strict protection by the Monuments Office and due to its proximity to St. Stephen’s Cathedral. For 200 years, it served as a guest house for church dignitaries of St. Stephen. During the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, it was frequented by high-ranking people and magnates from Hungary, some of whom stayed in luxurious annual flats for decades. The hotel reveals its charms little by little and furnishes itself in a versatile way, combining treasures of the past with colors and creations of the present.
